DESIGN THE STAGE OF THE THEATER
The Roman Theatre of Falerio Picenus, Falerone, rises on the flat alluvial plains of central Marche, along the left bank of the Tenna river. Built between the late Augustan era and Tiberius’ reign, the complex was sited, for logistical reasons, close to regional road networks and the ancient urban center. Its vast, arcade-pierced mass stands as a masterclass in freestanding classical engineering. Today, the imposing stone theater survives, waiting for new ideas.
Participants in this competition are invited to design a contemporary stage to complete and reactivate the historical theater and to create a profound dialogue between the existing Roman monument and the contemporary demands of flexible theatrical design.
