Collateral call

A collaboration with the research platform KooZA/rch

The Koozarch #archipelago exists as a curated set of floating references.  Drawing on Warhol’s very own principle that ‘Images need to be shared’ and quoting Erwin Panofsky, who once famously said that “the future is built from fragments of the past” the archipelago pledges to be an online library for critical references. Rather than passive, we believe in the power of this as an active tool for making architecture from architecture.

Archipelago x REUSE THE LAKE CHAPEL invites participants to the competition to focus on the notion of pilgrimage. As a means of kick starting each project, the ‘Archipelago’ project asks for you to research and share a maximum of three images which explore the connections between pilgrimage and architecture. Expanding beyond the single artefact, the open call asks you to challenge the term architecture to include urban environments, trails, ritual topographies, and human interactions with the natural environment. By exploring a multitude of formats which can range from a drawing to a picture, a collage etc we aim to together build a critical body of work which investigates the pilgrimage from a physical trail towards a holy site to the more symbolic concept of an internal pilgrimage of the soul.

Submission requirements

  • A maximum of three images (one compulsory)
  • Image measurements must be a max of 1800px on the longest wide
  • Images must be saved as TeamID-1.jpg, TeamID-2.jpg, TeamID-3.jpg
  • Please fill out also the author and the name of the image in the form
